check out the polls & threads published during the past few months during the PC elections...Then U'll get ur answer....mahinda & his slaves were claiming ownership to elakiri during those days & hardly anyone..(except athula) came forward against them.....

all the polls gave mahinda a vote% of more than 60%....

the reason for this change is not becos EK is filled up with UNP'ers or JVP'ers but due to the changing tide in politics in SL.....so except for the hardline SLFP'ers,everyone else has come forward to support SF....which is the trend in the country too....

This is not the same Urban/rural srilanka which excisted more than 10 years ago....
there were even members in EK from areas like Buththala now....for example the person who sent the photos of the MI24 crash to EK even before the media got hold of the pics....

Most members maybe residing in the Urbs now but most of their families reside in the rural areas & their votes reflect the attitudes of their families too....plus it's a known fact to as revealed by a captain in the army that 80% in the armed forces will vote for SF along with them....thats close to 1 million votes for SF if you consider the army as 250000 with 200000 voting for SF with their families....the average family size in SL being 4.8
