Salary increament and Value Depreciation

    උඹලට මේ දවස් වල salary increment එහෙම ලැබෙනවා ඇතිනේ year end නිසා.. සමහර තියන salary එකෙන් 5-10% වැඩි කරනවා.. ඇත්තට්ම කිව්වොත් මේක value Increment එකක් නෙමෙයි. salary එක වැඩි උනාට salary වටිනාකම එකයි.

    දැන් මෙහෙම හිතමු salary එක Rs10000 ලැබෙනවා, company එකෙන් 10% වැඩි කරනවා ඒ කියන්නේ Rs1000 ඒ කියන්නේ දන් salary එක Rs11000...
    ආයෙත් වැඩි කරන්නේ ඊලඟ අවුරුද්දේ..

    2013 - Nov ~ Rs10000
    2014 -Nov ~ Rs11000

    උඹලා අහල ඇතිනේ NPV(Net Present Value)
    ඒකට අනුව Rs11000 අද වටිනාකම Rs9,821.43 (Discount Rate 12%). ඕක අනිත් පැත්තට හිතුවොත් අද Rs9,821.43, 12% දෙන FD එකක දැම්මොත් අවුරුද්දකින් Rs11000 ලැබෙනවා.


    2013 - Nov ~ Rs10000
    2014 -Nov ~ Rs11000 ---->
    Rs9,821.43 (In 2013 Nov with 12% discounted rate)

    ඇත්තටම බැලුවොත් salary එකේ වටිනාකම එකයි, නැත්තම් තව ටිකක් අඩු වෙලා... living cost එක වැඩි නම් තවත් වටිනාකම අඩුයි. :baffled:

    ඒක නිසා එකක් ගද්දි අඩුම 20% වත් ගන්න බලන්න..:rofl:

    It not about amount mate its about rate...
    Same for a person who earns Rs100,000 when his increment becomes Rs10,000

    I dont think 12% is a reasonable factor rate. It should be more like 6% to 9% in Sri Lanka..... But I understand where you are coming from....

    Normally for NPV the inflation itself doesn't calculate as the discount rate machan.
    NPV is okay for an investment appraisal. but for things like living cost u need to go a bit deep with complex formulas like Fisher equation. :D

    company 1 anuwa tamai, godak 1 year wenna oni nattam case.

    kadekata gihin kama welaak kaala bill eka kiyada ehuwama, Puke nil paata kodiyak gahagena linde paninna hithenawa banzz. :sorry:

    Even its 8% , value is somewhere around 10185.19.. Just Rs185 is negligible

    I neglected living costs and complex stuff (Even i also have doubts since i am not an finance expert). I just wanted to show ordinary person with little knowledge on these stuff that what we get in near future is just almost same when it comes to time value.
