nice catch. but remember Toyota is the most common and hacked brand with CVT in SL so they should appear more in garages. Toyota CVT is tougher than I thought actually.
That may be, but the fact remains that conv autos are more resistant to hacking compared to CVTs and they generally last longer
yes but 10-15 years down the lane or after 100-150K KM use you should expect some overhauls in most auto gear boxes. Given that CVT repairs are now available in SL and cost nearly same price to rebuild as conventional autos is kinda worth given the smoothness and fuel economy it has.

take a look at those CE110s advertised online, most of the cars haven't passed 150k mark even though they're 20 years old I'd say a properly maintained Conv Auto would run atleast 250k before needing an overhaul

Yes they could be moving without an overhaul but you never know what repairs they have gone through. What I'm saying is the compromise you have to make to a CVT is worth it. Well maintained CVT could go more than 150K without a problem and I have seen it. Yes it would definitely last less than a conventional auto but not that far behind. (respect to Toyota K series transmissions)
