Potassium Chloride is a metal halide composed of
potassium and chloride. ... It is a potassium salt and an inorganic chloride.
organic refers to: “
An organic compound; or any substance containing carbon-based compounds, especially produced by or derived from living organisms.”
The term "Organic" depends on the
context it's used. So it's got several meanings. For instance when referring to "Organic Farming" it's agriculture that uses ecologically based pest controls and biological fertilizers derived largely from animal and plant wastes and nitrogen-fixing cover crops.
When it comes to Potassium Chloride (KCl) some would argue whether it's effective at all. Just like common salt, Sodium Chloride (NaCl), Potassium functions like a free ion. Thus it will regulates the water pressure in the plant, enzyme action and the transport of sugars & starch etc. Probably the only advantage of KCl is the very low cost compared to others. (But, OTOH it will end up being the
most expensive one because it doesn't work effectively as the others)
It cannot replace the so called "Phosphates" - Whatever fertilizer used has to depend on a particular crop, climate, soil type etc. For example, many leguminous crops are sensitive to Cl toxicity.
Guano - from sea birds - is one of the prime fertilizers. Peru & several south American countries export this. They harvest it from nearby small islands where millions of sea-birds live. (There's Bat Guano too)
Had you read TinTin books you would have noticed in one of the books (probably the Prisoners of the Sun), shows a frame with sacks of Guano on the jetty. I think it's the Captain who asks what it is as it smells and suddenly an overhead bird poops on his cap. So TinTin says , "There you got a free sample"
PS: It's no point arguing with people who try to force-feed the notion whatever this stupid government does is right. The problem about arguing with idiots is that the idiots also believe that they are arguing with idiots.
