I feel like the sudden spike from the TEMU promos overwhelmed the system and forced the authorities to react.

The clearance process has become a nightmare now ne. It takes 5-10 days for one item to be cleared. A streamlined process should have been implemented before the change, they be like "yeah we'll figure something out later..."

Yeah exactly. The issue is, mitto's took the easy route before,
bulk clearance, minimal checks. Now that it’s forced into a legal path, everything's jammed. And the worst part? They knew this was coming but chose to ignore it???

Well this is a fucked up scenario now. Gov shouldve done is to come into a tariff rate be it flat based or Hs code and apply it at platform level reducing the overhead of custom authority. That way Gove could’ve remove the malpractices and hectic manual process. Gov could’ve easily collected tax revenue from the platform and have all the details of product imported into the country with all the details.. well again we are talking about Extremely unproductive Gov mechanism.. lol
