Both types of Visas still exist. Possibly wrong information passed to you. Also they both seem have the same visa fee.

Yes that's their fault machan. They have in it on web. But when going to hand over paper application to the centre, then only they say its not accepted anymore.

You can not apply with sponsored family stream (1418) from sri lanka. You will have to forward that application to your sponsor in AU and that person must lodge your application together with his or her sponsorship (form 1149) to the addresses given, or lodge electronically.

Correct... I checked from a known guy now.
Either the application must be made on-line or should be mailed to the Australian Immigration Offices with form 1149 by the sponsor.
