I have never driven a Prius/Aqua and not much familiar with the Synergy drive system. But is there really no assist at all from the hybrid system after 80kmph? Wouldn't this make the synergy drive powered vehicles inefficient at high speeds (i.e. on highways etc)? I have a Civic Hybrid which uses IMA. I have seen IMA assisting even at high speeds such as 150kmph and it usually gives max mileage promised by manufacturers at high speeds as well. Would like to know the experience of Toyota owners.

And since someone asked before, IMA powered vehicles can technically be run with a depleted hybrid battery. But this would reduce the total amount of horsepower available to the vehicle and will increase fuel consumption as the car would always use the gasoline engine.
