actually... talking to much about it won;t do too much good.

you can choose wether to believe me or not, it's totally up to you.

but the only thing that can prove it, is by demonstrating the difference between onboard and a decent soundcard yourself.

i've stumbled across too many ppl saying that paying considerable large amount of money on a soundcard is a complete waste of money.
but most of them will say the exact opposite when they came to my audio store, and audition it for themselves.

yes... i came from a world that even power cable has effects on audio quality..... yes.... power cable..... the one the connects the electricity to your audio device....
sounds rediculous? most of audiophiles don't think so.

believe it or not i do not care......Wish u all the best SL

before you start bashing other ppl opinions....
have you tested all the setups and soundcard yourself?

i'm not saying Chanster is right....

but you guys should try it out yourself, there is a huge difference between onboard and a decent soundcard (not just x-fi)

but the only way you could accept that statement is by actually demonstrating it yourself.

It really didnt come off correctly from your very first post eh!!!.

Its more like SL ppl dont know how to convince what they are trying to say. & you proved it with your first post

The thing is machan he is kinda gone crazy over X-Fis and the high end cards. Yu can see even his wall paper. And he use that resource sucking creative player to play mp3s.
He want to tell the improvement he gains and he want to convince others to follow too.
But since he is loving his dream or the improvement he doesnt see the comparison between the cost and the improvement. And he doesnt see it like only suitable to people who really into audio or entertainment. So he tries to some how put atleast bit of his excitement to normal ppl who are happy and even cant hear the improvement of a X-Fi. So thats why he is telling about cheap audigys and SBS speakers.

Anyway nothing to worry machan that happens when you love something you get bit blind. I know.
Those days in late 1999 i only had a SB Live! Card from my friends. All had like crappy PCI or ISA stereo cards. So i was really happy about the improvement i gain from it. But i was not really aware that its only applicable to me.
I need the quality audio upgrade so i am happy to spend $$ for the card. While others don't even wanna spend money on an expensive audio card. I never tried to make others upgrade their cards but i was excited about my improvement.
Those days there was no onboard sound or its so primitive. But those days you can really hear the difference between those stereo cards and a SB Live! huge difference. Even normal person can tell. Lot of friends came to my place to hear surround sound and that SB Live! demo which had thunder and lot of effects in EAX. So its huge difference those days between a Live! and a normal stereo card or onboard.
But now onboard sound has improved so much believe me some people can't even tell the difference of a top range X-Fi and a onboard sound card. But there is a good difference but not like old days. So my point is if you are happy with onboard audio then stick with it. If you want more then compare the price you gonna pay for the improvement you want. If its okay then go for it.

well... chanster is always like that..... on other forum... i would have to counter his statement most of the time:lol:

but still, the facts are to remain unclouded by hatred towards a certain individual... since it will misguide other forum member that are looking for information.

Machan i never said onboard is not good dont use it........i wanted the ppl to know that a X-Fi card will blow the onboard to bits........i must say im really in to audio...i gave up my 6800GT n got a X-Fi plat maself....i waz having a Audigy 2 ZS....n the X-Fi was a great improvement....the sound is more crisp...the tone of the vocals are awesome.....n the games are so so realistic......i want the ppl to know (ppl in SL) that there are many more things than graphics cards n processors.......
Spending on a sound card is not like spending on a Core 2 duo......next 2 or 3 year s another processor will come n u wont be able to do the things in that time in you r previous processor.....sound card is totally diff.....it will last at lest 5 years......

    you sure?
you should be careful with those statement.....
try posting that sentence in other audio forum like head-fi.org....

sound is totally dependant on ears and very subjective.

this is not graphics or calculation.... this is audio.... measurable only by ears.

the wonders of audio... that's what makes it soooo different from any other PC hardware.

    haha..
    you got the wrong idea..
my point is its differ from person to person..
so how can we make judgment from that...
    for eg- i like bass..
    really high rate of bass..
but my brother enjoys the sound without the sub..
    he really enjoys it..
he's telling me that without the bass the sound is really calm..
    so..?
