CIMA behind bringing universities to international level – SB reveals
The real intention of the attempt by the government to bring 6 universities in Sri Lanka to international level was revealed yesterday (1st). This was when the Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayake had a discussion with several dons of relevant universities at Hotel Janaki. [FONT=Arial, sans-serif]The Minister of Higher Education had called the meeting stating it would be to discuss measures to elevate 6 Sri Lankan universities to international level. However, what was discussed was conducting courses of CIMA in the universities.[/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Majority of the university dons who participated at the discussion had objected to this attempt. Minister S.B. Dissanayake reprimanding the dons severely had said he would implement the programme whoever opposed it.[/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Meanwhile, it is reported that Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has made available Rs.3000 million for the Ministry of Higher Education to get the programme included in university curriculum.[/FONT]
