through my experience, the best thing in this situation is to sell the laptop for parts and buy a new one if the value is below 75k. because, a display would cost a lot- a good one, and a repaired machine is not as good as a new one. and also, it's prone to more breakdowns.
but supposing a laptop hard drive is expensive, and the optical device has a good demand, and the ram, and even the keyboard, and the motherboard, all these can be sold. so add the cost of a new display, and that's the price of a new laptop :)

I would do this, except the problem is I'm sick of laptops. I need to collect cash to buy parts to build a gaming rig, and I won't get that kind of money from my laptop.

machan the main purpose of using laptops is mobility and ease of use but the trend (marketing) makes ppl to choose what they not looking to acquire to fulfill their needs, which why nowadays ppl tend to buy a laptop rather than a desktop computer.
However the worst scenario is introducing dedicated GPUs to the laptops to blind ppl n make them believe that they can do whatever with that small scale GPU. Most of the laptops with dedicated GPUs lasts only few years without problems.End of the day GPU fried the mainboard which leads to waste of hard earned money for nothing.
The lesson what we must learn from these experiences is make sure we buy something which we want to fulfill the main purpose, not to expect more of it that cannot be produced.

:dull::dull: Am i getting emotional here..... no way......!:lol::lol::lol:

i would suggest you sell the laptop and buy parts for the basic pc.
then, as you get money you can add extras such as vga, coolers, gaming mouse, sub woofers, extra ram, larger hdd etc., and make it a gaming machine.

what you say is reasonable for gaming but not for using a dedicated vga for graphics etc. :P that won't heat up the mb unnecessarily. or you can even use a cooling pad too. but i agree that a laptop is not for high end gaming.

    1. Laptops don't really matter to me because I never take them anywhere. I always use my laptop on my desk or bed (do not lecture me on this), and I prefer PCs.

    2. Once I'm done with school, maybe. But I would prefer something that would allow Crysis 3 to run at around 40 fps. I'm looking at building this rig -

actually machan its not all about gaming. its about putting dedicated GPUs in somewhat called mid-range laptops.Cz heating issue is the most common problems nowadays with almost every laptops in market and i hv re-balled many defected GPUs due to excessive heat when my friend had infrared gig with him. Some of the owners just regular users without playing games on it.That is the bad side of the laptops with dedicated VGAs.
