ඉස්කෝලෙකට පරිත්‍යාගක්

යාලුවනේ මට මගේ වයලින් එක ඉස්කෝලෙකට පරිත්‍යාග කරන්න අදහසක් තියනවා. තව මගේ ලග ඉතුරු කරගත්තු සල්ලි ටිකකුත් තියනවා. ඒකෙන් පුස්තකාල පොත්පත් ටිකක් හරි වෙන පොඩි පොඩි අඩුපාඩු තියනව නම් ඒවට පුළුවන් විදිහට උදව්වක් දෙන්න පුළුවන්. ඔයාල දන්න ඒවගේ අවශ්‍යතා තියන ඉස්කෝලයක් තියනවනම් මට ඒ ඉස්කෝලේ සම්බන්ද කරගන්න විදිහක් කියන්න.

I'll share one of my experience..

I did the same for my first school, in my village primary school.
I contacted the principal and asked a list of books they need for their library.
(They don't have proper library, but a classroom with few books.. )
Principal sir gave me a list with around 100 books.

It was September, So I and my wife had a visit to BMICH book fair, and bought all the books in the list and some additional ones which I thought worth having. Because of the discounts it didn't cost much.

I handed over it to principal and came back Colombo although he asked to have a official event for this. (It was a big thing for them)

But next day they have arranged a little meeting and invited my mother to officially donate the books. That feeling was great.

I have helped 2 schools not with my books but I got them books from Asia Foundation. I'm not sure if that thing is still there.
Schools didn't know that, but they gave books to every school through the principal. I wrote letters on behalf of the principal, got an appointment, and on the assigned date I went there and brought the books. A lot of books.
I was just after school those days and knew about it through a friend. So I was kind of happy, and had an air of pride in doing that too
