India slide to fourth in Test rankings

Rain-forced drawn Test in Fatullah drops Virat Kohli's men further behind New Zealand

India's water-logged drawn Test against Bangladesh has cost them a place in the world rankings, with Virat Kohli's side dropping to fourth.

India are now in a three-way tie with England and Pakistan on 97 points, however India edges ahead of the other two nations when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.

India has 97.47 points, marginally ahead of England on 97.33 while Pakistan has 96.75 points.

A busy Test schedule in the northern hemisphere will see the ratings in a state of flux of the coming months, with England to play a five-Test Ashes series against Australia, while Pakistan will meet Sri Lanka in a three-Test series start on June 17.

Sri Lanka currently sits seventh on 96.14 points.
The Fatullah draw means Bangladesh has gained two ranking points, but has not moved up from their current ninth-spot position and remain behind the West Indies.

Australia will retain their position as the world's No.2 team regardless of the result in the second Test against West Indies underway in Kingston, Jamaica, but remains some way behind the No.1 ranked South Africans.
A five-nil Ashes result would not be enough to lift Australia above the Proteas, but it would send England plummeting to the eighth spot, below the West Indies, against whom England recently drew 1-1.

New Zealand currently hold third spot in the Test rankings, a position they earned after their 1-1 drawn series in England.

hehe don't blame me

btw he has loads of domestic experience.thats what I was referring to either way everyone starts from domestic circuits so you have to count it right

anyway I think as Mubarak is not as aggressive as he used to be he is much better to be in test side rather than T20 or even ODIs. He still has his flare as a aggressive batsmen which I think is crucial when you look at the brand of cricket Aussies and Proteas play nowadays.Besides he add value as a fielder which is so important in any format.more so in tests as quality batters don't really give you too many opportunities.after all catches win matches. More over he gives useful part time off spin as well.He will be damn useful in a fast track where you can only afford to play one spinner.May be give Dilshan's role to him?may be? Even Adam Vogues got his chance at the age of 35.and he excelled. So why not Muba? He may not be the ideal but I certainly prefer him over someone like Dimuth who rarely performs with the bat and who is neither can be considered as a very good fielder nor any sort of a part time bowler.

Surrey cricketers Rory Burns and Moises Henriques, have been involved in a sickening collision while fielding in the NatWest Blast tie between Sussex and Surrey at Arundel Castle.

Three ambulances and medics are in attendance and there is a fear of serious injury.

Play was immediately suspended and the match is expected to be abandoned.

The rest of the players have been taken from the pitch whilst the players affected are treated.

The players clashed heads while running for a catch offered by Steffan Piolet off Tom Curran in the 19th over of Sussex's innings.
As yet unconfirmed reports are that one of the players is receiving CPR which would indicate that one of the players could be unconscious.

Will Macpherson will seek to bring further information as it is received on what is clearly a disturbing incident.

Lots of concern in the Ageas Bowl press box where the England v New Zealand 3rd ODI is taking place but journalists taking to twitter and the BBC radio commentary from Arundel where the nasty accident between Rory Burns and Moises Henriques has taken place.


On field collisions are rare, but not uncommon and this sounds like a particularly bad one.


Rory Burns is a talented left handed opening batsman who has walked out to the middle many times with current England one day opener Jason Roy, who may not have heard the bad news while currently fielding at backward point to Mark Wood's bowling.
One suspects that he won't be told until the game is over here in Southampton, but will be pulled aside as soon as he leaves the field.
Desperately sad news, but hope that both players will be OK in due course.

Further update from the ground would suggest Burns is also conscious, giving two thumbs up as he was stretchered into the ambulance.
Both are now on their way to hospital.
It's unclear whether play will resume.

Update: Moises Henriques conscious


Moises Henriques has waved to the crowd while being taken to the ambulance, but there's still plenty of concern over Burns' wellbeing.
Both ambulances were on the scene within minutes, according to those at the ground, and were quick to treat both players.
