That does not matter if your project is a very good.but it is more better if you have a innovative one but hard to find.coz everyone had done it previously.my opinion is get client more reputed like government or leader in private sector.but they have able and give proper help to success your project.

if you select a big client, but if they are not giving good help then there is a problem

Nothing like that bro.. if you don't have innovative ideas, it is okay to do a typical system ex: Student Management, HR system, Payroll.. etc..
but when you gonna defend it they gonna ask you so many questions and it will be a pain in the ass to defend the system.

It's impossible to come up with a whole new type of system since, every system we use to date, are broadly categorized into a some type. For Eg: hrm, crm, inventory man, payroll etc..
But the implementation can be innovative for sure. How ever two students can't have the same client.
