Mac is not that superior as you think  it depends on your level ofexperience on linux..

I used ubuntu fulltime for sw development since 2014..this year i moved to mac..theres no much difference except for the nice ui :P ubuntu has a lot of features which mac doesnt have..or at least u need to install a third party software to get them.in mac :baffled:

Ubuntu has a few ui issues and some minor issues here and there..easier to fuck up if u dont know whatu doing..but overall, ubuntu is a good choice..

Just wanted to clarify this with you machan.

As I know Ubuntu is for average computer users. But most of the software developers in Sri Lanka use it as their primary OS.

Why don't they use an OS like Debian when they have advanced skills?

you have never used a Mac. You can't learn Mac by just looking at video tutorials bro. LoL :yes::yes:

I do use a mac lol its your third world mentality which makes you think nobody else use macs is the reason why u feel mac is better..

Im just talking about the os here, for me mac os lacks a lot of things, as someone who comes from a ubuntu and windows background..simply you dont have a calender along the date time indicator on your status bar, which is an essential feature..you can't scroll through images in the preview app.. you need a whole lot of third party stuff installed..

For development its alright, but theres nothing better compared to the ubuntu lap i used..i did the same, except for the 16 g ram i have in macbook, which is a device property for the price you pay..

Anyway im not here to argue with you about mac or linux..lol

Can't talk for everyone, but ubuntu was my personal choice...im an average user who does sw development. :P just because i know anything advanved, i dont feel like making my life complicated for simple matters..ubuntu is user friendly, has everything i want..so why not...

Anyway i use debian for server, havent used it as my primary os..it might be better, i dont know..

Calendar/Date time is there(by default) on the status bar, yours may be hidden (System Pref > Date & Time > Clock and enable), Also so far mac is the easiest to preview photos, open the photos folder then just press the space bar to open images on preview mode, and then you can use arrow keys to navigate through photos, actually i miss that feature on my windows pc, there is no such easy quick preview on windows.
mac is kinda best of both worlds, you can do anything which can be do in linux, also you have same or better software availability compared to windows.

As I have noticed, Ubuntu comes with many third party tools pre installed.
In Debian you have to install some, also Ubuntu UI better than Debian in default view. You need to configure Debian with GNOME etc.

Im not talking about the time or date which is displayed on the top bar..when you click on the date, a sensible os will display a drop down calendar..to get that feature in macos, u need to install a third party tool..i know the preview app is there, but it is not as good as preview app, and if you have a thumbnail view, you cant scroll through all images..try it and see..:P it will scroll only upto the last file in the current row...you need to set the file display mode to list..

I have no problem with mac os, im just saying its not as superior or perfect as people think..
